Oakland's own Zion I have been holding it down since the late 90s. Amp Live and Zumbi have always been ahead of the curve when it comes to hip-hop. Evolving noticeably from release to release, the duo have found yet another direction with The TakeOver. Known primarily as an underground act, the group have added some slick hooks to their sound giving it just the hint of pop sensibility as they bounce effortlessly from soulful to experimental to straight hip-hop. All the while, Zumbi keeps the lyrics uplifting and with an eye to the future. Another classic!
