The Chilean eleven piece band La Brígida Orquesta released their first album in 2017 and have since then taken the audience in Chile by storm with there own unqiue mix of Jazz and Hip Hop with powerful lyrics. The band is led by pianist and composer Gabo Paillao (Ana Tijoux, Portavoz) and fronted by vocalist Matiah Chinaski (Mente Sabia Crú) - two legends on the Chilean rap-fusion scene. The new EP "Antípoda” is an album with an aesthetic quest built around the use of an old tape recorder and a recording format inspired by the big bands and ensembles of the 1950’s conducted by Arturo Zegers as recording engineer andGabo Paillao as musical director and producer. “In a time of music globalisation where digital sales and streaming numbers are the priority to choose what kind of music to create and how to make it we look back and got inspired by musicians like Miles Davis, John Coltrane and Charles Mingus. Artists that doesn"t depend on the listener but on the other hand depends on the music that they make. LBO consists of experienced musicians from the diverse and rich Chilean music scene. Felipe Salas (CAF) on drums and Tomás Alud on bass guitar and a wind section consisting of Italo Viveros (Mapocho Orquesta) and Fernando Carvalho (Conchalí Big Band, Newen Afrobeat) on trumpet, Alfredo Tauber and Alejandro Mendoza on trombone and Ed Neidhardt, Vicente Aravena and Aldo Gomez on saxophone. La Brígida Orquesta has drawn full houses at legendary venues such as Club Chocolate in Santiago, Municipal Theater of Valparaíso and Balmaceda Arte Joven in Concepción and was selected as one of the most interesting acts during IMESUR and PULSAR, something that has opened up interest even at international festivals and audience. They were nominated for the Indigo Awards 2018 in Chile. Now they are finally back again with releasing new music on the Sweden based independent record label ajabu!.
