Strut präsentiert die erste Wiederveröffentlichung eines verlorenen Klassikers aus dem Black Fire-Katalog: Wayne Davis' kraftvolles, selbstbetiteltes Gospel-Soul-Album von 1976. Für Fans von: Tribe, Black Jazz, Strata-East, Gilles Peterson, Roy Ayers, The Last Poets, Lonnie Liston Smith, Gil Scott Heron, Pharoah Sanders, Esther Phillips, Roberta Flack, Weldon Irvine, Donny Hathaway, Otis Redding

An accomplished vocalist and keyboard player, Davis hadstudied in Washington D.C. and had worked with RobertaFlack and she subsequently secured him a recording dealwith Atlantic Records; he released the 'A View From AnotherPlace' album in 1973 and Roberta contributed electric piano toone of the tracks. Davis was the dropped from the label andhis subsequent album was released by Jimmy Gray on BlackFire. Produced by Jimmy Watkins and Bias Studios manager,Bob Dawson, the album line-up featured the celebrated poetand flautist Wanda Robinson and the horn section fromlegendary D.C. go-go pioneers Experience Unlimited. Waynelater returned the favour, appearing as a vocalist onExperience Unlimited’s seminal 'Free Yourself' album.
This first international reissue of the album features newsleeve notes including band member interviews and originalillustrated artwork by Muzi Branch. Audio was transferred fromthe original tapes by the album’s engineer, Bob Dawson, andwas remastered by The Carvery.
