Hintergründe zu Gerhard Eggers Album First Songs
Im Jahr 1964 verschlug es Gerhard Egger aus dem Salzkammergut ins entlegene Südburgenland. Unter dem Einfluss der Beatles begann er dort als Schüler erste angloamerikanische Popsongs zu schreiben. Seine beiden Wohnorte lagen weit weg vom Schuss. Die österreichische Provinz war damals noch ein weißer Fleck auf der popmusikalischen Landkarte. Unter diesen Umständen war es Egger nicht möglich, seine „First Songs“ auf Schallplatte herauszubringen. Diesen lang gehegten Wunsch hat sich nun der Protagonist der Bands Art Boys Collection bzw. Gerhard Egger & Die Mostrocker 60 Jahre später mit diesem Soloalbum erfüllt, das als Vinyl-LP und als Download erscheint.

In 1964, the Austrian Mostrocker Gerhard Egger found himself moving from the alpine Salzkammergut to the lowlands of southern Burgenland. Influenced by the Beatles, he started to write his first Anglo-American popsongs while still a schoolboy. At the time, his two places of residence were rather remote, and the Austria province was a blank spot on the map of recording popmusic. Under these circumstances it was impossible to produce and release his “First Songs” on record. Now, 60 years later, the protagonist of the bands Art Boys Collection and Gerhard Egger & Die Mostrocker arranged and recorded ten of them for this solo album.
