Im Volksmund wird New Orleans auch gerne als “the city that care forgot” bezeichnet, und wenn sich nur eine Stadt der Welt ihre Reputation als Party Town verdient hätte, dann New Orleans! Hier wird sogar eine Trauerfeier zum Volksfest. Dergleichen auch das Motto der vorliegenden CD in der Putumayo Collection: “Let the good times roll.”
Booklet inkl. Hintergrundinformationen und Cocktail Rezept für den klassischen NEW ORLEANS DAIQUIRI!
If there is any place in the world that deserves its reputation as a party town, it’s New Orleans. New Orleans has been called “the city that care forgot,” a poetic phrase that reflects the spirit of a community that manages to even turn a sad event into an opportunity for celebration. Nothing demonstrates this better than the colorful and rambunctious second line jazz parades that are part of many New Orleans funerals.
The unofficial motto of the city is “let the good times roll.” And roll they do, with the annual Mardi Gras bacchanal, raucous music festivals and late night music clubs. And what’s a party without music? From the irresistible swing of traditional jazz to the soulful jams of classic rhythm & blues, New Orleans has music for every occasion - especially if that occasion is a party!
Putumayo’s headquarters has been in New Orleans for several years, allowing us to soak up the sounds of the city. 2018 is both New Orleans’ tricentennial and Putumayo World Music’s 25th anniversary, so we’re pleased to be releasing an album that celebrates the extraordinary music of this historic city. Even when the world is getting you down, New Orleans music makes it easy to forget your problems! - Tracklist
